The Anguish of Massachusetts Liberals

How to Choose? ... How to Choose?
With their hearts torn asunder by the uncomfortable moral dilemma of having to choose to cast their vote for either the first woman or the first half-black man for President, some local Democratic fund raisers have created something of a stir with their unexpected defection from the Clinton bandwagon.
For liberals, their intentions and ostensible purity of motives are all that matters in politics. As such, Obama’s race is the ultimate vehicle through which to express the nobility of their aspirations. As a black man, Obama’s “message of Hope” resonates deeply with liberals. For many liberals, that is all that matters and it is a more than sufficient basis on which to select a President of the United States.
But for liberals, which aspiration takes precedence? Those embodied in their race-based or their gender-based politics?  What signal does a Massachusetts’ feminist send to her sons if she doesn’t vote for the woman candidate?
Although Massachusetts is one of the few states where this dilemma for Democrats will be visible, it does challenge the assumption of those political observers who claim that Obama will be content to bide his time as Hillary’s Vice Presidential pick.
Despite his lack of substantive experience, the Obama candidacy is real and over time, may pose a real threat to the more establishment candidacy of Hillary Clinton
