As the champion of big government, the Democratic Party seems to forget that the first order of government is to protect its citizenry. What is the justification for not passing legislation that protects citizens who report suspicious activity on the part of certain passengers prior to boarding a plane? For the Democrats the answer is the pretend stigma of “racial profiling.” That is, every single terrorist attack against the United States has been carried out by Muslims. So, naturally, Democrats don’t want us to report suspicious activity by those who are adherents of the Muslim faith (e.g. imams praying in an airport lounge), because that might raise the odious specter of “racial profiling.”

If the choice comes down to a risk (however remote or improbable) of having a plane you’re about to board blow up in mid-air or worrying about hurting someone’s feelings, most American have no compunction about playing it safe. That is simply common sense and an attribute of the human condition, both traits Democrats want us to subjugate to the doctrinaire requirements of political correctness.

Passage of this legislation should be a no-brainer and in the upcoming general election, Republicans should remind Americans, that the Democrats attempt to kill this common sense protection demonstrates,once again, that the Democratic Party cannot be trusted on national security issues.
