Bill Clinton and Hillary’s Campaign: Asset or Liability?

Will he be her savior or is he an albatross around her neck?
I have never put much credence in mainstream media descriptions of this power couple. Most press accounts mimic or parrot each other; there is no attempt at critical analysis or fact checking. For her, the following characteristics are always touted: the world’s smartest woman, experienced (and that would consist of exactly what…?), tough, a fighter, etc., etc. For him it’s: rock star, draws approving and adoring crowds wherever he goes, is an unquestioned asset for Hillary whenever he speaks or appears on her behalf.
The facts however belie the media myths. Bill Clinton is a loose canon; the fact that his wife is running for President doesn’t change this. In the last two months this great “asset” to Hillary’s campaign has come up with some whoppers that have seen Hillary staffers cringe. In light of his numerous and off-message ramblings, which have clearly been  detrimental to Hillary's campaign, it is utterly amazing that any pundit would continue to regurgitate the, by now, tiresome drivel that Bill Clinton is going to help his wife in her quest for the presidency.
As a narcissist, Bill Clinton is interested in resurrecting his legacy first and foremost. Given this fact, I think you could argue plausibly that he really isn’t interested in helping his wife too much, lest he run the risk of her Presidency overshadowing his.
