As The Network’s Downward Slide Continues Unabated, Dan Rather sues CBS
It just doesn’t get any better than this. The once proud and haughty anchorman — heir to Walter Cronkite — is suing his former bosses at CBS for $70 million dollars. The former “Tiffany” of network news has been consistently scraping the bottom of the evening news ratings barrel with its disastrous choice of Katie Couric as anchor. Now they have to contend with this pathetic has-been whose ego knows no bounds.
As bogus as Rather’s suit is, few in the new media will be shedding any tears for CBS. They enabled this prima donna for years and now he is coming back to bite them in their backsides. The discovery aspect of his lawsuit will expose all sorts of dirty laundry which I’m sure CBS would just as soon not make public.
